  • Recognise that you’re a role model and that players, parents, spectators and colleagues will be influenced by how you behave towards other people.
  • Create an environment where people feel they can talk about issues openly and honestly.
  • Familiarise yourself with the more insidious forms of bullying (e.g., ostracism, gossip and innuendo, ‘accidental’ damage to the person’s possessions) and raise the issue with those involved should you suspect that this type of intimidation and harassment is occurring.
  • Address all issues of bullying as soon as you see the signs.
  • Make sure you’re up to date with your club’s Member Protection Policy and reinforce its principles with the team.
  • Encourage people to speak out and offer support when they do.
