Administrators - What to do next

As an administrator, try to do what you can to ensure that discrimination on the basis of disability does not have a place within your club. Things you may consider: 

  • Develop a Member Protection or other policy that addresses disability discrimination and harassment?  Make sure the policy been endorsed by the management committee.
  • Follow your sports disability action plan (if one has been developed)
  • Communicate your sports Member Protection policy and disability action plan to members and personnel (e.g., parents, coaches, players).
  • Appoint a Member Protection Information Officer and provide appropriate training and information about disability discrimination and complaint handling.
  • Promote awareness and understanding about people with disability participating in your club.
  • Look for best practice examples from other clubs/sports.
