Coaches - What to do next
- Encourage former or retiring female players, parents or community members to apply for coaching or officiating positions.
- Act as a mentor to aspiring female coaches.
- Attend anti-discrimination training offered by the club or association.
- Request your committee:
- review recruitment and selection processes for coaching positions, identify ways for attracting and keeping female coaches; and use objective selection criteria, such as qualifications and related experience;
- arrange clinics or workshops to help women and girls develop coaching skills;
- acknowledge the achievements of all coaches equally (e.g., via profiles in newsletters, at meetings, awards nights, promotions);
- consider the appropriateness of coaching materials and information (e.g., do the images show both men and women? Is the language gender inclusive?).
