Issues in sport

Fair20Go20Sport20socksHow would your sport handle issues around . . .

social media, complaint handling, discrimination, child safe environments and club culture?

In April this year, Play By The Rules and the Australian Sports Commission held several forums with National Sports Organisations which explored these five integrity themes.

The forums included a range of speakers from sport, who highlighted real-life, practical issues that have had an impact on integrity in sport. The presenters were asked to give 'warts and all' accounts of issues that they have had an experience with. They talked about how the issue was handled, what the implications were and what they may have done in hindsight.

The idea behind these presentations is to give you an opportunity to consider how your sport might deal with a similar issue.

The first video in this series features Ben Hartung (Hockey Victoria). His story reflects on Hockey Victoria’s involvement in the Fair go, sport! project which commenced in October 2010. The project aimed to increase the awareness of sexual and gender diversity and to promote safe and inclusive environments in Hockey. Click here to see Ben's presentation.
