How We Can Help > Local Councils

Local Councils

Local government plays a large role supporting sport and recreation opportunities in their community. This can happen through their support of local clubs and associations, and directly providing recreational services and facilities.

Risk management of council-owned facilities and grounds is a necessary responsibility. Councils also have responsibilities for staff who are employed in recreation facilities and programs, such as managers, coaches and officials.

This section helps local councils to:

  • find the most useful resources on the website
  • use Play by the Rules resources to prevent and address inappropriate and unlawful behaviour
  • best communicate information about safe and fair behaviour to council recreation staff as well as local sport and recreation clubs.
