Make a complaint or report

This page provides options for someone looking to submit or raise a complaint with an organisation.

Play by the Rules does not handle any complaints in sport.

For more information about behaviours and actions that are unacceptable in sport, read about ‘prohibited conduct’ under the National Integrity Framework.

In cases of emergency or immediate danger, call 000.

Child Protection

If you suspect a child or young person is at risk of harm or neglect, contact your state or territory child protection agency.
 

Reporting links for sport organisations and Sport Integrity Australia

National Integrity Framework

Most sports in Australia have adopted the National Integrity Framework (the NIF) and can have their complaints managed by Sport Integrity Australia. You can:

  • Contact the Safe Sport Hotline on 1800 161 361 to discuss the issue (anyone, from any sport, can call the hotline for advice)
  • Report all doping, child safeguarding and discrimination incidents or concerns to Sport Integrity Australia
  • Report other matters to your National Sporting Organisation.

If your sport is one of the below and you wish to lodge a complaint under the Safeguarding Children & Young People Policy or Member Protection Policy, click on the relevant link:

  • Life Saving

Some human rights commissions can receive complaints relating to discrimination. For more information, visit the relevant website.

Other options

If you do not want to submit a formal complaint you can speak to the President, Member Protection Information Officer or other person in your club and explore informal ways to resolve your issue. Clubs and associations can rely on their Constitution, Code of Conduct and other relevant policies to  handle grievances and resolve integrity issues.
