Play Your Way: Creating safe and equitable spaces for women and girls in sport

This dynamic session will feature two engaging panels:

  • One focused on the athlete experience, sharing firsthand stories of resilience, perseverance, and progress
  • The other examines the systems and structures that create safe, equitable and inclusive spaces for women and girls in sport

Through candid conversations and lived experiences, our panellists will explore the influences that shaped their journeys and offer practical actions you can take to foster change in your own sporting communities.

Panellists include:

  • Jade Ellinger, AFLW athlete, Brisbane Lions Football Club
  • Harriet Cordner, AFLW athlete, Carlton Football Club & inaugural AFLW player
  • Rebecca Miller, AFLW athlete, Richmond Tigers Football Club
  • Tess Whelan, Australian Women’s Blind Cricketer and first totally blind tennis player to represent Australia
  • Karina Brown, former Jillaroo and inaugural NRLW athlete
  • Shannon Jennings, Referee, NBL, WNBL and NBL1
  • Rebekah Yeow, True Sport Project Officer, Sport West
  • Kim Evans, Deputy President of Adelaide University Sport and President of Adelaide University Rugby Club
