Young officials are the future of sport — and we want to hear from you.

Are you a young sport official aged 12–20 years? Adelaide University want to hear about your experiences.

Adelaide University researchers, in partnership with Sport Integrity Australia, Play by the Rules, and sporting organisations across Australia, are conducting a research project to better understand what it is like to be a young official.

The study aims to learn more about:

  • what young officials enjoy about officiating;
  • the challenges they experience;
  • the support that helps them succeed; and
  • what could be improved to create positive, supportive officiating environments.

By sharing your experiences, you can help shape strategies to better support young officials and strengthen the future of officiating in sport.

Participation involves completing a short online survey that will take approximately 10–15 minutes.

Taking part is completely voluntary. Your responses will be kept confidential, de-identified, and used for research purposes only. Choosing to participate (or not participate) will not affect your involvement in sport or your relationship with your sporting organisation.

If you are under 16 years of age, parent/guardian consent may be required before you participate.
